Bestie, if you're planning a trip to Tokyo, you're in for a treat! In this blog post, I'm going to show you the top 5 places that you HAVE to visit when you're in this amazing city. So get ready to slay your Tokyo itinerary and have the time of your life! 🥰
1. Tokyo Tower: A Landmark with Stunning Views
Tokyo City’s Icon
First up, we've got the infamous Tokyo Tower. Standing at 333 meters tall, this tower offers stunning views of the city and is the perfect spot to snap some insta-worthy photos. There are two observation decks, the Main Deck at 150 meters and the Top Deck at 250 meters, both of which offer breathtaking views of Tokyo. You can also enjoy a meal or drink at the Tower's restaurants and cafes.
To get to the Tokyo Tower, take the Oedo line to Akabanebashi Station, which is a 5-minute walk from the tower.
Now if you want to take aerial pics/videos (instead from the ground like pictured), you have to go somewhere else that has a good view of it. I recommend checking out Ritz-Carlton Tokyo in Rappongi area. My lovely suite had front-row, sky view of the iconic tower!
2. Shibuya Crossing: One of the Busiest Intersections in the World
Next up, we've got Shibuya Crossing. This bustling intersection is a must-visit spot in Tokyo and one of the busiest intersections in the world. You'll feel like a Tokyo local in the middle of the hustle and bustle of this area. Trust me, you'll have so much fun at this spot! I posed for pics at numerous angles 😁. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants in the area to explore.
When I went to Tokyo, I accidentally stumbled on this crossing by just exploring the area 😂 . It really was very busy even at 9pm on Sunday night if I recall correctly!
To experience the Shibuya Crossing, take the Hachiko exit from Shibuya Station.
As your Tokyo travel guide, I recommend a visit to Shibuya Crossing, a bustling intersection and must-see for Tokyo travelers.
3. Meiji Shrine: A Peaceful Spot in the Heart of Tokyo
Step Back in Time at Meiji Shrine
For a little bit of peace and quiet from Shibuya Crossing, check out the Meiji Shrine. This serene spot is located in the middle of a bustling city and is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken.
As you walk through the shrine's torii gates and along the tree-lined paths, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. You don't want to miss this historic spot!
To get to the Meiji Shrine, take the Chiyoda or Fukutoshin line to Meiji-jingumae Station, which is a 5-minute walk to the shrine.
4. Tsukiji Fish Market: A Must-Visit Spot for Seafood Lovers
If you're truly my bestie, you gotta love you some sushi!!! 🍣 So like a good friend that I am, I have to tell ya to go to the Tsukiji Fish Market. This busy market is the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and a must-visit spot for seafood lovers. You'll have the freshest sushi you'll ever tasted, and there are so many yummy street food options to try. Your taste buds will thank you for visiting! You are WELCOME! 😌

5. Sensoji Temple: The Oldest Temple in Tokyo with Rich History
Bestie, last but not least, you gotta check out Sensoji Temple. This temple is the oldest in Tokyo and a vibrant symbol of the city's rich history. The vibrant colors and intricate details of the temple will leave you in awe. As you explore the temple grounds, you'll also discover a variety of souvenir shops and street food vendors. I even bought my first Yukata (those kimono-like outfit for guys or summer 👘) here. You're going to love the culture and history of this place!
To get to the Sensoji Temple, take the Ginza or Asakusa line to Asakusa Station, which is a 5-minute walk from the temple. Go towards the evening so you can see the Temple at night! Less tourists too! They light it up well as seen below:
